Frog Themed Bedroom
Last week, Disney's Port Orleans: Riverside resort reopened for the first time in 18 months. Now, we're giving you a look at a refreshed room at the resort filled with touches from the Disney animated film "The Princess and The Frog." This is a Standard Woods View room.
You walk into this room adjacent to the two queen beds. The flooring is dark wood and the walls are a very pale blue color.
The two queen beds sit on wood frames that are shinier and more red in color than the floor.
A door to an adjoining room is next to one of the beds. The room has a ceiling fan to provide extra air on warm Orlando nights.
Each bed has a headboard with artwork embedded in it. One bed has a picture of what looks like an old southern plantation home.
A closer look shows what appears to be Tiana and Prince Naveen standing together at the top of the front stairs.
The other headboard art appears to be a continuation of the scene. It shows a small bridge crossing the river, with more people on the other side.
Dual lamp fixtures sit above each bed. Each lamp has a white shade with red trim. The shades have silhouettes of Magnolias.
Between the beds is a nightstand. It is the same wood as the beds. There is a phone on the nightstand. This room had a Take-Along Guide to the Magic magazine. The nightstand also has two electrical outlets and two USB plugs. It also has one drawer.
The dresser and wall-mounted TV sit opposite the beds.
A small coffee maker and several coffee supplies sit on top of the dresser.
An ice bucket, cups, and cup lids sit on the other side of the dresser.
The cabinet in the dresser opens to reveal a small refrigerator.
Looking left of the dresser from the beds, there is a small seating area with two chairs and a mirror above them. The table has a round marble top. The table and chair frame is wood. This wood is even darker than the floor.
The chairs have faux-leather seats with a cloth back support.
On the other side of the TV and dresser, there is a wall-mounted coat rack. The rack has four hangers and a shelf.
The room's thermostat is on the wall next to the coat rack.
Below the coat rack is a small green bench seat.
A painting mounted on the wall next to the beds keeps to the New Orleans Riverside theme, but is not directly related to "The Princess and the Frog."
This painting of a riverboat in action is called "Celebrating Mardi Gras on the Mark Twain." It was painted by Richard Vaughn in 1984. It's from the Walt Disney Imagineering Collection.
Looking back toward the entry way, we see a window to the right.
Below the window is the room's air conditioner. This A/C unit appear to have a wooden exterior cover.
From a distance, the curtains on the window appear to be mostly colorless with a unremarkable design. A closer look however reveals something more.
The curtains have just a bit of red and green colors mixed in with the off-white and grey. Inside the design is a silhoutte of Prince Naveen as a frog.
Across the room from the curtains is the entry to the bathroom area. The area can be closed off from the rest of the room with a curtain that fills up the doorway. The entire curtain features a scene with Tiana and Naveen from "The Princess and the Frog" film.
The curtain opens to reveal the vanity area with an open closet.
Just inside and to the left is the closet area. Guests get a shelf and hanging rod to store clothes. There are several clothes hangers ready for use.
The shelf has an extra pillow and blanket. There is also an iron and ironing board.
There is a safe for keeping valuables secure built into the wall.
A large mirror sits above the sinks. The mirror is backlit.
Below the mirror are dual sinks.
The popular Disney Resorts facial soap and body lotion are provided for guests.
A round mirror is mounted to a swinging arm on the wall next to the mirror.
To the right of the sinks is another door to the shower and toilet area. This door has a full body length mirror.
The backside of the door has a hanging hook. There are more hanging hooks on the wall behind the door, next to the shower.
The walls in this room are painted a pale blue color. There are two towel racks mounted above the toilet. White towels are provided.
The shower curtain has giant red flowers with fireflies flying around them. These are modeled after the red flowers seen in the swamp in "The Princess and the Frog."
Behind the curtain is a shower head.
Bottles of Disney Resorts body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided. These bottles can't be removed or opened. The body wash is Sea Salt scented. The shampoo and conditioner are Sea Marine.
